Our property when we first bought it! Dry, lifeless soil and hardly any birds or insects to be found. We knew there was potential.
The main entrance to our open grass area which is called "The Green". We wanted to make a statement and went for this curving step look. Notice how the path narrows to capture your attention.

Yellow Granny's Bonnet (Aquilegia). All of our Granny's Bonnets come from an old fertile variety that has cross-pollinated over the years. We now naturally have a huge variety of colours and flower shapes.

Hanging baskets of petunias add colour along our entrance driveway. They offer a nice contrast to the stacked firewood behind.
You can add formality to your garden as we have here by creating a circular bed around a water fountain.
The metal arbour draws your eye as you start to walk along this winding path. Three hanging pots on the arbour add a splash of colour at head height.
Hanging baskets from the awning over a window makes it feel like the garden is even closer to the house.
Metal gates with pot holders frame an entrance way to our house. The two hanging baskets draw your eye from the baskets in the gates.
